Running for a Reason:

Our Journey Supporting MND

At Eight at Gazegill, everything we do is rooted in people, purpose and community. This year, that commitment extends far beyond the restaurant, as two members of our team — Ramune and Kimberley — take on a series of personal challenges to raise money for a cause incredibly close to Ramune's heart: Motor Neurone Disease (MND).

Why MND?

Motor Neurone Disease is a devastating illness that affects the brain and nerves, gradually taking away a person’s ability to move, speak and breathe.

Like many, we have seen the impact of this disease first-hand. It’s something that stays with you — and it’s why we felt compelled to do something meaningful, something that could make even the smallest difference.

This isn’t just fundraising for us. It’s personal.

Ramune Takes on the Leeds Marathon

In May, Ramune will be taking on the Leeds Marathon — a huge challenge in itself.

Anyone who has ever trained for a marathon knows the level of dedication it takes. Early mornings, long training runs, mental resilience — all while continuing to show up every day at Eight with the same energy and commitment she’s known for.

This is more than just 26.2 miles. It’s a statement of strength, determination and compassion.

The Ultra Challenge

Just when you might think that’s enough… we’re only getting started.

The following month, both Ramune and Kimberley will take on an Ultra Challenge — pushing even further, both physically and mentally, in support of MND.

This is where endurance meets purpose. Long distances, tough terrain, and the kind of challenge that demands everything you’ve got — all driven by a shared goal to raise vital funds and awareness.

A Charity Dinner at Eight

Alongside these physical challenges, we’ll also be hosting a Charity Dinner at Eight at Gazegill — bringing together everything we do best to support this cause.

Guests can expect:

  • A thoughtfully curated tasting experience

  • Exceptional produce from our organic farm

  • Wine pairings to complement each course

  • A warm, memorable evening with purpose at its heart

There will also be opportunities on the night to contribute further, including raffle prizes and fundraising activities — all helping us get closer to our goal.

Doing It Together

What makes this journey so special is that it’s not just about two people — it’s about a whole community coming together.

From our team supporting training schedules, to our guests donating raffle prizes, to every single person who shares, donates or cheers us on — this is a collective effort.

How You Can Support

If you’d like to be part of this journey, there are a number of ways to get involved:

Every contribution, no matter how big or small, truly makes a difference.

Thank You

We know the months ahead will be challenging — physically, emotionally and mentally — but we are incredibly proud to be doing this together.

For those affected by MND.

For the families.

For the future.

Thank you for being part of it.
